Re "Obama is hurting his own cause by not reaching out" (Editorials, Feb. 19): As I recall, in 2011 only 27 of the 87 Republican freshmen attended the White House reception for incoming freshmen.
Republican Sandy Praeger, Insurance Commissioner from Kansas was invited to the White House on Nov. 20 to discuss the rollout of the Affordable Care Act, an invitation she declined.
When 232 Republicans were invited to the Executive Mansion on Oct. 9 to discuss the debt ceiling, only 18 attended.
House Speaker John Boehner has declined every invitation to every formal State Dinner the President has held.
Not one Republican attended the screening of "Lincoln" and not one single Republican chose to participate in the 50th Anniversary of the Martin Luther King March on Washington.
The list goes on. How many times does the president "reach out" to the Republican pit bulls that have bitten him repeatedly? I'd say the president has reached out way too many times already.
