Re "Provide for current population" (Letters, Feb. 27): Letter writer Chuck Knutson asks why Sacramento-area leaders are planning for hundreds of thousands of new homes in the coming decades.
The answer is for more sales tax, property tax and all the other taxes that will be collected from new owners and businesses. When the property south of Highway 50 was first labeled as the Folsom's Sphere of Influence, we were told that before any homes could be built, builders would have to show that they had a new source of water.
Now we are being told that that new source of water will come from current residents of Folsom being forced to reduce their consumption of water. Like they say, money talks.
