Re "Emma Gunterman" (Page A8, March 8): Emma Gunterman's friends were touched and delighted with the tribute to her published as an ad in The Bee on March 9, the day we gathered to remember her. It captured the essence of Emmy with the bicycle drawing.
The Bee published an obituary of Mrs. Gunterman that chronicled many of her accomplishments during her 98 years: lobbyist for the poor at the Capitol and, after retirement, a math teacher at Loaves and Fishes, then Fremont Adult School and at the Food Bank and Family Services.
She was a productive gardener, expert photographer of flowers, and an artistic needlepoint creator. She rode her bicycle to most of her activities, having grown up in Holland where bicycles were the main mode of transportation.
We would like to thank the anonymous person or persons who designed and donated the Emma Gunterman ad.
