Bill Hauck was special

I was sorry to hear about the passing of Bill Hauck, a leader in the Capitol for Democrats and Republicans, the longtime head of California Business Roundtable and a California State University trustee for 20 years.

As a former assemblyman and senator, as well as Secretary of State, I recognized then, and realize now, that Bill Hauck was one of the most respected gentleman in every political circle in Sacramento.

His arguments for or against an issue were always fact-based. He didn't approach a subject about who might win or lose, but how we could come to a resolution that would result in a decision that was best for the people of California.

More than anything, he was a good friend. I only wish there were more Bill Haucks in the Capitol. We'd all be better for it. God bless you, Bill, and thanks for your service.
