Credit where it's due

Re "You'll get what you deserve" (Letters, March 11): Letter writer Dean Stoller sarcastically thanks Democrats, President Barack Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for the "Unaffordable Care Act."

What Stoller overlooks is that Republican President Richard Nixon first proposed such a health care system, and the right-leaning Heritage Foundation advocated a version of it. Republican Mitt Romney also implemented it in Massachusetts.

I'm no fan of Obama, but the Affordable Care Act is a thoroughly Republican proposal. So let's give credit where credit is due: "Thanks" Republicans!

Although they lost the popular vote in congressional and presidential elections, Republicans continue to guide public policy rightward. Brilliant.
