Re "Standard tests' values? It's all about the money" (Viewpoints, March 11): Bruce Maiman's skewering of the SAT concept and pointing out the fiscal reality were right on the money. Requiring the SAT for college admission is like riding a stationary bicycle. Sure, you're getting exercise, but you're going nowhere. The high cost does nothing more than add to a student's educational debt and discourage others from going for a degree. I's give Maiman's column a score of 1600.
