Need for presidential leadership

Re "Crimea spurs U.S. sanctions" (Page A1, March 18): It's disturbing and troubling to witness the overwhelming support for the Crimea vote to merge with Russia.
What infuriates me is the lack of leadership from President Barack Obama. He failed to appear at the Sochi Olympics because of his lack of relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He disregarded our olympians due to his philosophy or fear of facing Putin.
I remember President Ronald Reagan when I was in college urging Soviet Premier Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. It's frightening to think we have an American president who lacks the ability to keep us from international turmoil.
