In the last month, I have accompanied my 14-year-old son and his friends to a shooting range, paintball war, ski resort and a baseball tournament. Which was the most hazardous by far? The baseball tournament located at the Cordova Recreation and Park District's Mather Sports Center.

Due to unsafe design and construction, foul balls rain on spectators, small children and players at the four-field complex. It is a tragedy waiting to happen. The liability exposure to taxpayers is enormous. Posted signs warn spectators and put the responsibility on them to be safe.

How can this be acceptable to the Cordova Recreation and Park District Board of Directors? I tried to complain, but received no call back. The board needs to take immediate corrective steps to make this facility safe before a serious injury or death occurs.
