Well-regulated militia?

Re "Jury finds two guilty of killing baby, father" (Page B1, March 19): The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution says: "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Can Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a vigorous advocate of people's right to own guns, explain why two members of that well-regulated militia thought the free state's security was being threatened by the 7-month-old baby and its father they shot to death?
