E-cigs correct tobacco's problems

I don't use e-cigarettes. I have no brief for or against them. However, I can't help but notice that e-cigs basically answer all the traditional gripes about tobacco use: bad smell, secondhand smoke, health problems, etc.

So why haven't they been embraced by people opposed to tobacco use? Because it wasn't their idea? Sure, e-cigs appear to have their problems, like any new product, and they need to be addressed. But to lump them in with tobacco? This sounds more like sour grapes than concern for public health. It also sounds a lot like wanting power over people's lives.

This sort of attitude won't fly in the U.S.
