Re "Why gays oppose a lesbian" (Page B1, March 16): Marcos Breton should not have made Sacramento County District Attorney candidate Anne Marie Schubert's sexuality an issue. By doing so, he has joined the ranks of those who sensationalize and glorify issues that have nothing to do with a candidate's worthiness for office.

I don't care about her sexuality, or the sexuality of any candidate, unless they make it an issue and force it upon the public. Most of us are wise enough to look at Schubert's strong qualifications for district attorney, her passion for enforcing the law and the will of the people and working to ensure that Sacramento County residents do not have to live in fear.

Schubert's stellar qualifications speak for themselves. Outing her is nothing more than an attempt to change the vote of those who are homophobic. Cheap shot.
