Stop raising cows because of drought

Re "Runs inspire bid to boast deliveries" (Capitol & California, March 19): Protests and political action aren't going to make it rain more water for agriculture in this state.

Because of the drought, stop raising cattle and other animals that use up most of the water resources. The water that goes into a 1,000-pound steer could float a destroyer.

The entire animal industry needs to be defunded, and taxpayers' money should be invested in crops that can be raised in a desert climate. Before Europeans arrived in the Western United States, natives raised crops, and we could revive their ancient knowledge of the land and water use.

As a vegan, I am sick of seeing cattle all over landscape which could instead be used to grow legalized hemp, like Canada does.
