Don't vote for development initiative

Re "El Dorado County voters may decide latest growth fight" (March 19): The group behind the newest El Dorado County initiative is an out-of-county development group. It's not just any development group, but the one that led the fight to build the downtown Sacramento arena.

This new project of theirs- to get an initiative before the voters that encourages development- is not their battle to fight, and every argument they have made is disingenuous at best. The suggestion that Dixon Ranch or San Stino are projects that should be encouraged simply does not pass the sniff test. I hope the voters are discerning enough to see through this attempt to confuse the very important issues county residents must sort out.

If El Dorado wishes to retain its rural character, we will not allow the ballot to be cluttered with outsider initiatives that further the very development projects we so vehemently oppose.
