Sac Metro milks taxpayers

Re "Top 100 paid public servants": Year after year, the Sacramento Metro Fire Department dominates the list of the highest paid public servants. Why does this not bother the board of supervisors or the public? When the county is forced to cut services to the Sheriff's Department and other public functions, this special district with its hand-picked elected board, continues to milk the taxpayers for every drop it can get.

It's time for one of two things to happen. Either the supervisors need to bring the fire department back into the county fold and get some adult supervision and control, or every other county service needs to become its own special district with its own independent directors.

Either way, we're in trouble. In a few years, a majority of tax revenue will simply go to funding retirees of the past. And none of them live in Sacramento anymore.
