Re "Urban chicken problems come home to roost" (Our Region, March 23): People who expressed concern at the Sacramento City Council about disease and disposal of dead chickens were ignored. Coincidentally, the retiring head of health and human services who was honored that evening was asked to comment. She said there was no concern about Avian Flu. Obviously, her expertise was limited to humans, not chickens.

Barnyard animals in the city are not a good idea. I had data regarding chicken owner woes, disease and the fallacy of a passing trend during hard economic times. All ignored. Now, we have a fiasco created by the inept, the unlawful and the ignorant. Thanks, city council. Good job. Business as usual.
