Sky Park Gardens is not a prison

Re "Third dementia patient escapes Sacramento facility" (Our Region, March 25): Escape means to get away from a place where you are being held or kept.

Sky Park Gardens is not a prison. Residents are not held or kept, and neither the place nor situation itself is dangerous, difficult or unpleasant. Walking away is.

There is no warden, not guards and no prisoners. What about the hundreds of residents, such as my 99-year-old mother, who have received all the tender loving care that one could ask for. No mention of them.

I hope these three unfortunate incidents will be compared to all the good this facility has done for the many residents they have so well cared for over the years.
