Re "Metro Fire works to rein in costs" (Another View, March 26): I read with interest and appreciation Randy Orzalli's Another View regarding cost containment actions taken by Metro Fire. He described with clarity the work and efforts of the Board of Directors to contain costs and reform the pay and benefit system at Metro Fire. All of this has been done in a collaborative and constructive manner with the cooperation of organized labor.
The record of Metro Fire in containing cost, living within their means during difficult financial times, working cooperatively with labor and acting as a responsible and accountable public agency is remarkable and a lesson for other California public agencies.
