Re "Krell calls DA lax on sex trafficking" (Our Region, March 27): I am a lifelong Democrat, and retired from the Sacramento District Attorney's office as an assistant chief deputy. Candidate Maggy Krell is clueless. The DA's office has a dedicated human trafficking prosecutor who is a nationally recognized expert and has trained police and prosecutors for years. How many human trafficking, murder or sexual assault cases has Krell personally tried, not just filing an appeal? What experience does Krell have supervising people or running a multimillion dollar office?
What efforts has she made to create innovative prevention programs like the nationally recognized truancy program Anne Marie Schubert created on her own? What has she done to work with collaborative courts like mental health and re-entry court? What actual experience does she have in creating alternative programs to incarceration? The answer is none. For 24 years, Schubert has done all of this. Even this lifelong Democrat knows the choice is clear.
