Federal hypocrisy in GM case

Re "Feds twice chose not to investigate faulty GM part" (March 31): I found it hypocritical that the U.S. Attorney's office fined Toyota $1.2 billion for a sticky accelerator problem that was blamed for five deaths. In the same month, we learn the same government twice declined to investigate the federally bailed out General Motors for a faulty ignition switch that led to 13 deaths.

Maybe Toyota should have asked for a bailout.
