Re "Gay-marriage view is tech CEO's downfall" (Page A1, April 4): I disagree with Brendan Eich on the gay marriage issue. I proudly voted against Proposition 8.

Yet I am horrified that this man has apparently been blacklisted and lost his job for his personal opinion on the matter, which he chose to back up with a campaign contribution to the Yes on 8 campaign.

What has this man done wrong? If he had practiced discriminatory practices on the job that would be one thing. But he simply held an unpopular, politically incorrect opinion.

I am proud of Brendan Eich for not renouncing his views. Here you have a profile in courage, which is about doing what you think is right even if it costs you dearly.
