Re "New fears compound lingering pain of war" (Page A1, April 7): The false excuse of weapons of mass destruction used to invade Iraq and abandon Afghanistan cost American taxpayers, Democrats, Republicans and independents, $2 trillion. The aftermath of broken soldiers and mismanaged infrastructure projects will cost another $2 trillion. How long must we put up with leadership that steers our country so far away from what is wanted by the citizens of our country? How long must the public absorb the tragic aftermath of mental anguish suffered by our military?
