Re "Police pursuits costing more than they're worth" (Viewpoints, April 8): Bruce Maiman's uses of the CSA quote seemed designed to set the tone and flavor his argument against high speed police pursuits. The choice of words by CSA was at best unfortunate but should not be used to inflame readers.

A more objective view of incidents like the one last week are more acts with unintended consequences. I think it would be fair to say the three involved in the theft and following pursuit did not look to kill two people.

The issue of high speed pursuits and unintended consequences deserves clear and rational thought, so let's tone the it down a bit.
