Determining equal pay

Re "Senate Republicans block Democrats' equal pay bill" (Nation & World, April 10): After reviewing information on this topic, I found women are getting more college degrees than men. However, men are getting more degrees that match the highest paying jobs.
Women are getting more degrees that match lower paying jobs. Taking the total of women's jobs versus men's jobs, women make much less money than men. When you look at individual fields, data says that may not be so.
As nurturers, women sometimes bear more family responsibilities which requires time away from the job or inability to travel. How do you equate equal pay in those instances? Companies have pay ranges for each position because everybody's experience is not equal, including men's.
Determining equal pay should not be comparing apples to oranges. This is an issue requiring a lot more thought.
