Rock on

Re "Even guitar legends get too old to perform" (Foon Rhee, April 10): I respectfully disagree with Foon Rhee's comments about aging musicians, particularly Bruce Springsteen. Anyone who has been to a show in the last couple years will attest that Springsteen still gets it done. Yo Yo Ma is 58, Itzhak Perlman is 68. Is there a different standard because it's rock 'n; roll? If B.B. King is having problems because of his age, may the audience be forewarned. But to suggest a mandatory retirement age? Springsteen is still selling out soccer stadiums. If his shows weren't good, he wouldn't be selling tickets. Finally, songs and performances take on new meaning and texture as artists and audiences age. So I say, keep rockin' as long as you can.
