Good ideas for saving water

Re "Outsmarting the drought" (Views on Food, April 20): Thank you for the article by Elaine Corn on alternative methods for planting crops to save water. We need to find ways to save water when wells are going dry and reservoirs are low. We need to learn from other cultures and people who have learned to deal with this issue. Shahar Caspi has some very good ideas that I will use.
The Hopi on the Mesas in Northern Arizona have grown crops with very little water for centuries. I understand that Longhorn steers were taken from Northern Mexico to Israel because they could live on very little water.
We all love rain in California because we know how important water is. Thank you for your many recent articles on this issue of water in California.
