California morality in 2014

Re "Clippers owner banned for life" (Page A1 April 30): Accused of using public office to conspire with gunrunning terrorists? You get a furlough with pay. Innocent until proven guilty. Due process for all.

Accused of dissing minorities in a private conversation? The furies are unleashed. Banishment, fines, ostracism, confiscation with no appeal. Pitchforks and torches.

But the rest of us have nothing to worry about, right? I mean, nobody's listening to our phone calls or reading our emails for wrong thoughts, are they? Oh, wait.....
