Re "Sterling banned for life" (Page A1, April 30): The media and public reaction to Donald Sterling's racist remarks would make one think this was an earth-shattering event. Any time a high profile individual makes an idiotic comment, it is going to make tabloid news.
Racist remarks is an everyday event that involves all ethnicities. This got more publicity than the tornadoes in the Midwest that caused death and destruction.
Society has become very immature. Sure, the guy was an idiot for saying it and now he is paying the price, but the public reaction would make one think this is the first time a racist remark was ever made.
