Building approvals without a new dam

Re "Proposed tunnel at Alhambra Boulevard will be continuing issue for McKinley Village" (Our Region, May 1): What is the requirement to be on the City Planning Commission? Surely it doesn't require having the knowledge that we haven't built a dam in this area since 1945-1955 when the Shasta and the Folsom Dams were built. We've had an explosion of growth since then with no new dams.

I cannot believe Sacramento is approving a residential building project when we have no water to spare. Every new house and commercial building requires water to be supplied to it. Why are we building anything when everyone living in this area will need to restrict drastically their water use by mid-summer due to the drought? Talk about having your head in the sand.

Politicians need to get the environmentalists out of their campaign pockets and get another dam built in a responsible manner.
