Re "McKinley Village, while imperfect, is good for Sacramento" (Editorial, April 28): I have been watching with great interest the debate and vote on the McKinley Village Project. It is absolutely obscene that anyone would propose 366 new homes anywhere in this region.
How can the city council give a green light to any project that is going to impact the area and take resources away from the existing community? I'm sure most of us are aware that we are in the the second worst drought in the state's history.
There should be a moratorium on new building until infrastructure and resources are available that won't impact the existing community. It is time that our representatives at all levels of government start aligning themselves with their existing communities. This vote proves yet again that our representatives can't represent the existing community because they're already working for the developers.
