Re "Political prosecution in El Dorado County" (Editorials, May 9): I am appalled to read this editorial in view that another story informs us that Tuesday, the jury returns to continue its deliberations. Although jurors are admonished not to watch TV or read newspapers about the case, this instruction is often not followed. There's plenty of time for tongues to start wagging among the citizens in El Dorado County, including the jurors.
Also troubling to me is the comparison to Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson's mild "slap on the wrist" by the Fair Political Practices Commission to El Dorado Supervisor Ray Nutting, implying that this is the way politicians should be treated. I consider this editorial to be blatant jury tampering.
