Re "As memories fade: UC Davis researchers grapple for Alzheimer's cure as it threatens to overwhelm health care system" (Page A1, May 11): Thank you for your story on the Alzheimer's disease research centers. It was a heartbreaking yet hopeful glimpse into the current state of Alzheimer's research, the need for more funding and the families that are coping with this devastating disease.
Research shows that caregivers who utilize education and support services can improve the quality of life for themselves and those for whom they provide care. The Alzheimer's Association will host a daylong conference for caregivers of those with Alzheimer's and other dementias on May 22 at the Sacramento Convention Center.
