Re "Hold the line, Brown urges" (Page A1, May 14): With all we know about brain development, it is very disturbing to see that Gov. Jerry Brown has not allocated money for early education. The brain develops the most and the fastest before age 5. If that time is not taken advantage of, there is no going back.
This will affect children for the rest of their lives, as well as society as a whole. We need brighter, healthier children for a better future. I urge the governor and the Legislature to rethink the budget and include early education.
