South continues the tradition

Re "Will Donnelly's bid deal a death blow to the GOP?" (Viewpoints, May 21): I found Garry South's comments on immigration in his otherwise well-stated piece on Tim Donnelly to be disingenuous, at best. He continued the tradition of clouding the issue of illegal immigration by referring to those opposed to it as anti-immigrant. Caring people of all parties can be pro-immigration while against illegal immigration, because it denies these immigrants the right to demand fair wages and benefits. Those whose definition of pro-immigration includes illegal immigration encourage this continued exploitation.
The focus should be on developing immigration policies and procedures that allow for quick processing of people wishing to enter the country for our mutual benefit.
