Re "Sac City, teachers warm up to talks" (Our Region, May 22): It is promising for the Sacramento City Unified School District, the school board and the Sacramento City Teachers Association to be cooperating about standardized testing related to teacher evaluations.

Praises to the SCTA for not accepting the use of standardized testing as a major part of each teacher's evaluation. Teachers do true testing of themselves and their teaching in the classrooms all the time. Standardized tests give indications of what very large groups of students know but are not reliable tests for individual students.

Do not evaluate a teacher on something beyond a teacher's control. Be honest and fair to teachers.
