Re "Other politicians who never worked" (Letters, May 19): When Tom McClintock ran for governor, I voted for him, because he opposed redevelopment, a system that invites graft and corruption. It puts private property at risk of seizure by local politicians, to be given to whatever developer has the most juice with local politicians.

Recently, he became one of 10 federal representatives who want to stop funding the Department of Justice to conduct raids on medical marijuana dispensaries in states whose citizens have voted to allow marijuana to be used as medicine, because he believes in the Constitution, and in states' rights.

When I voted McClintock for governor, it was not because of his work history. It was because of his knowledge of and support for the Constitution, and because of his history as an honest and hardworking representative. I was and am not a Republican. I just vote for the best-qualified person.
