Re "California Democrats call for gun restrictions after Isla Vista killings" (Capitol & California, May 27): This tragedy is one of many mass murders where a disturbed person has taken out all their problems, whether they be mental health issues or not, on the people around them. After each one the same things come up to be blamed: gun control laws, movies, video games and the such which are easy things to point fingers at, but what is really to blame?
I agree that mental health regulations should be included with gun laws, but I don't agree with Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson's association of movies and video games with a culture of violence, and that it is society's fault.
To stop these mass shootings, society needs to look toward the source of these issues, starting with the parents and the way the child was raised and moving to their mental health to prevent this from happening again.
