Re "Schubert's experience fits DA job" (Marcos Breton, June 1): During the past year as a candidate for Sacramento County District Attorney, Deputy Attorney General Maggy Krell has demonstrated that she has the experience, toughness, and vision our community needs.
To quote Gov. Jerry Brown: "She has successfully prosecuted murderers, gang members and sex offenders. Maggy Krell is ready for the job."
Krell has earned a reputation as one of the toughest prosecutors in the state. She has prosecuted gang members, fought to uphold the sentence and conviction of Sacramento's "Thrill Killer," and in a case that was thought to be unwinnable, won a first-degree murder conviction against a savage killer in Lassen County.
Ultimately, this race boils down to whether or not voters support the status quo, incarceration-first policies of the current D.A., or whether a tough on crime, smart on prevention prosecutor is what Sacramento needs in selecting our first new D.A. of the 21st century.
