Re "Republicans are shameless hypocrites on veterans" (Viewpoints, June 3): Thank you, Bruce Maiman, for shining a blinding light on those who care nothing for veterans while using them ceaselessly as political props. And thank you to to the veterans' organizations that recently stood up to the ranking Republican on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee after he publicly questioned their patriotism because they wanted to fix the VA problems rather than use them for political gain. They too have had enough. They responded by pointing out the number of times this Republican hypocrite has voted against bills designed to assist veterans. "You clearly represent the worst of politics in this country," said the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The way we treat our veterans is a national embarrassment. The way Republicans use them while refusing to fund their needs is a national crime.

Enough is enough.
