Passing our tax bucks

Under 'Regular Medical,' I scheduled a visit to a physician to bring my asthma medications into the fold. For a month, I was feeling confident, back at work and asthma in check. However, MediCal is now shopped out to private provider networks that offer managed healthcare plans. Things have changed : my only effective asthma drug is being denied. My doctor requested an exception, and this also was denied.

My network - Anthem Blue Cross - claims my prescription was denied by their subcontracting pharmacy, Express Scripts. No, this is not for pot, rather for Nasonex. Express Scripts has in turn claimed that I'm being denied by Anthem Blue Cross.

Although MediCal is at my disposal free of charge, I can plainly see the buck being passed. I'm assuming it's someone else's buck, and thought they'd like to know. -- Randy Abbott, El Portal
