Re "Palestinians swear in unity government." (Nation/World, June 3): As a loyal Democrat, I voted for Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012. Yet, now I am thoroughly disappointed in the inconsistency and passiveness of his conduct of foreign policy.

Prime example: The President's decision to continue funding the Palestinians despite the appearance of the unity government that includes Hamas, the terrorist entity that seeks to destroy Israel. This flies in the face of past declarations by both the president and Congress not to work with Hamas unless it renounces its war against Israel.

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen had it right a few days ago in citing "the president's intellectually chaotic and bumbling foreign policy." This is an administration that talks a lot about principles and red lines in foreign affairs, but fails to follow through.
