California Chrome: America's horse

Re "Chrome heading home"(Sports, June 8): My hats off to Steve Coburn for saying what should have been said a long time ago. The Triple Crown is unfair the way it's run.

To be eligible to race for the Triple Crown, all horses should have to compete in all three races. He was robbed. The sport of horse racing is on a downward spiral.

California Chrome, aka America's Horse, had brought it to the everyday person. Normal people have always thought of horse racing as crooked and fixed. That is what they will think again. Where were the accolades for him, injured at the beginning of the race, still finishing fourth? If you have followed this horse, you know less the injury, he would have blown the others away.

He is truly a special horse. The East Coasters and Southerners will eat their words when he finishes first in the Breeders Cup.
