Re "Sacramento City Council candidate Cochrane, trailing by 77 votes, concedes" (SacBee.com, June 9): To borrow from Mark Twain, the reports of my concession are greatly exaggerated.
In fact, I did not concede. When I dropped to third place, I thanked my supporters and noted that the present trend was not encouraging. In no way did I concede the election. I was, and am, a contender until the last vote is counted. In my eagerness to show gratitude, I showed less optimism than I should have. As another candidate cautioned me when I wrote my blog post, "It ain't over 'til it's over."
