Re "Information on oil trains can't get sidetracked" (Editorial, June 11): In a real sense oil transported by railroad is safe with a million railroad tank cars traversing the country millions of miles every year with very few serious problems. The chances of a serious problem are less likely then winning the Powerball Lottery or lightning striking you.
Worrying about this is foolish. The State/Local Fire and Hazmat agencies should already know how to deal with any problems or accidental leakage. They all have dealt with thousands of truck-hauled oil problems on our roads for years. No difference.
Oil is a natural substance. When spilled, Mother Nature can deal with it. It takes a lot of help to fire up diesel oil in an accident.
