Re "Fix environmental rules for everyone" (Editorials, June 9): The Bee's editorial stating that environmental rules ought to be fixed for everyone, not just for billionaires and sports teams, is spot on.

We all want more job-creating businesses to come to California, but the Legislature's current efforts to help one business in particular overshadows the need to help all businesses.

In the past, the Legislature has given environmental exemptions to politically favored projects. But what about other companies and small businesses? Aren't they equally deserving of the same relief from burdensome regulations?

As a legislator, I have focused on reducing the regulatory burden for anyone who wants to invest in California. I believe this is the best way to create jobs in all our communities.

Lawmakers must reform the California Environmental Quality Act so all businesses can play on a level playing field.
