Re "Common Core stumps parents, children alike" (Page A1, June 30): A parent complained she was going to home-school her children because she did not recognize the math approaches her children were being asked to use.
Her logic seems to be that since she was not given the tools to understand math conceptually, her children should not be given the chance either. I can appreciate parents who learned math by algorithm being frustrated by conceptual learning. But this is no excuse to deprive their children of a deeper understanding.
