Don't go changing the State Fair

Re "Not many fresh ideas at slightly stale State Fair" (Editorials, July 12): I have been going to the State Fair since infancy and I currently volunteer. I have difficulty with "change."

I like the familiar -- starting with the Golden Bears greeting me at the front gate, wandering through the counties exhibits, the livestock arena, the vendors. The farm and forest areas are amazing! There are certain foods I look forward all year long and only eat at the State Fair -- the 1947 soft taco, corn dogs, and warm,freshly-baked cinnamon rolls. And at the end of the day, there is "free" entertainment and fireworks!

When Cal Expo first opened, I grumbled that it wasn't like the "old" fair. But today, Cal Expo is the State Fair. I hope if changes are made, they are "small" changes. For me, going to the State Fair is like "coming home."
