Re "Return of the grizzly" (Forum, July 13): Why force a disaster in the making on either the bears or humans? If this was such great habitat for grizzlies they would have stayed. If an animal that big wants something, who is going to stop them legally?
Yosemite averages 4 million visitors annually. The bears will take advantage of an easy meal, and the worst will happen. In a free society, how many arranged marriages work out? This idea is not a good one. We can't live in the past. That was yesterday and we don't want a repeat of what happened to the grizzlies do we?
Now having said that, if I am allowed to carry a firearm large enough to kill a grizzly, then reintroduce them to my campground.
