Re "Petition gatherers know how to get you to stop" (The Buzz, July 14): Give me a break. The cost of Tim Draper's signature-gathering to split California into six states totals $1.3 million. The Bee needs to do a story on who is footing this $1.3 million cost. I'd guarantee it is someone who can afford the write off and will benefit greatly if the split is done.
There is absolutely no way the individual counties could have come up with that kind of disposable money. Since the tea party backs this split I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the money came from the people who finance the tea party, namely the Koch brothers.
Come on, Bee, let's see a story on who put up the $1.3 million.
