Re "Fair signage sorely lacking" (Letters, July 15): Regarding the letter writer who was disappointed in the Parks exhibit at the California State Fair, I share in your frustration.
As a former State Parks employee, I can attest to the negligence too often represented through an uncompleted exhibit or of a responsible representative. A complete lack of accountability, passing the buck and total apathy seems to be a code of (non)-ethic for far too many Parks employees. A simple shoulder shrug is often lamely given as an excuse for this dereliction of duty.
There really is no excuse for this lackadaisical approach to one's work, especially when you are depicting some of our state's most valuable assets and acting as its representative. While there are many, many dedicated Parks employees, far too many lack the proper respect in/for their work, or for the many visitors to our cultural heritage.
