Re "Stop dragging feet on desalination" (Letters, July 19): I feel this topic is very important being that we are in such a very severe drought. I have wondered why we do not set up a series of plants along the California coast to serve the farmers and some of the cities close to the coast.
I feel this would be a better use of money than a high speed train through a small portion of California. It could also put solar and wind power to good use and create quite a few good jobs in a variety of trades.
This seems like a win-win project. If it can be done on the coast of Arabia and other Persian Gulf states, why can't we?
